Mixed Use Apartment Complex
An initiative created for the Oman Association for Disabled, an NGO founded in 1995 to offer assistance, education, and leisure activities for individuals with impairments. The plot's disabled owner is a member of this organization.
Due to the nature of the project—an apartment complex with several amenities offered on the main floor—this design requires a particularly practical approach. However, the installation of 2 sizable courtyards for natural light and ventilation reasons has resolved a lot of problems. The building has a total of 7 floors and a basement for services and parking lots. Numerous activities, including a restaurant, a showroom, a grocery, and a sizable MPH, are available on the ground level. Separate entrances are given for each area. The offices are located on the first floor. There are five standard floors with 23 units in total, each having a studio, one bedroom, and two bedrooms flats. The penthouse contains a gym, swimming pools, and residences of studio, 1BHK, and 2BHK sizes.
The dynamic skin of the structure was intended to provide movement and instability to a relatively stable, almost cubic form in order to draw attention away from the inflexible functionality of the planer design. Additionally, the contrast between the two materials—brick and concrete panels—brings both diversity and harmony. As needed for elevation, vertical, horizontal, and eggcrate louvers were incorporated. In order to sustain biodiversity on the elevation, flower boxes were given.
